Rehang a Sagging Interior Door

Chapter 1 — Find the Rub

Close the door slowly. Watch / listen: - Rubs at top of the strike side: door sagging away from the top hinge. Common. Fix with Chapter 2. - Rubs at bottom of the strike side: door sagging away from bottom hinge. Less common. Same fix. - Latch won’t catch strike plate: alignment issue. Chapter 4. - Door rubs the FLOOR: either hinge sag or a warped door / high floor. - Door rubs the TOP of frame: too-tight fit (humidity expansion) OR wrong-sized door for frame.

A door with a visible scuff mark on the frame showing where it rubs during closing.
