Chapter 1 β Find the Leak
Run water into the gutter (garden hose from the roof end OR during
rain). Watch where it drips:
- Drip at a seam / joint between sections: sealant
failed.
- Drip through a hole in the gutter bottom: rust
pinhole or impact damage.
- Drip at end caps: end cap seal failed.
- Drip at downspout connection: outlet seal
failed.
- Water overflowing the gutter: itβs clogged, not
leaking. Clean it.
Mark the leak with a sharpie on the gutter exterior.
