Fix a Squeaky Floor
Three Root Causes, Three Real Fixes
A squeaky floor is friction between two wooden parts that used to fit together. This book walks three root causes (subfloor to joist, subfloor to top, and top floor board to board) and the specific fix for each.
Kindle edition coming soon. Until then, the PDF download includes the same content.
About This Guide
Three causes. Three fixes. No mystery.
Floor squeaks come from three specific wood-on-wood friction points: - **Subfloor to joist** (subfloor lifted off the joist from below). Fix: re-screw from above or brace from below. - **Subfloor face seam** (two sheets of subfloor rubbing each other at a seam). Fix: screw the seam down. - **Floor to subfloor** (hardwood or laminate moving against the subfloor below). Fix: screw from below (if accessible) or use specialty screws from above.
This book walks each with the right tools and techniques.
