New Septic at the Lake
December 2022 – December 2022 · 11 photos · plumbing
The old septic at the lakeside place was undersized and failing. I had the excavator on site through a cold stretch and we set the new tank in winter so it'd be ready before spring. Ran new lines, set risers up to grade so service is easy, and tied a stone retaining wall into the disturbed ground so the lawn wouldn't slide back into the trenches. Seeded and strawed before the rains came.

During Fresh tank lids next to the cabin. Tied them in alongside the boulder retaining wall I was building.

During Green risers set to grade so the pumper doesn't have to dig every time it gets serviced.
-
During Backfilled and rough-graded around the cabin. Next pass was finish dirt and seed.
-
After Lids and trench lines visible across the lawn. Easier to hit them now than dig blind later.

During Boulder retaining wall going in beside the new septic to hold the regraded slope.

During Septic access lids exposed for inspection before final cover and seed.

After Seeded and strawed over the disturbed ground so we'd have grass before summer.

During Surveyor's tripod on the snow while the excavator started the cut for the new tank.

During Excavator and skid steer working the front yard in the snow — winter install was the only window I had.
-
During Lowering the new tank into the hole. Cold work but the ground wasn't frozen deep enough to be a problem.
