Taking Down the Big Trees
October 2021 – November 2022 · 9 photos · yard and landscape
I'm not climbing big trees myself — when the job needs a bucket and a crane, I bring in a crew and act as my own GC. Had several rounds of removal across the property: arborvitae over the patio, leaners near the power lines, and a couple of oaks the crane truck had to section out and load directly to a logging trailer. My job was siting, scheduling, and dealing with what was left on the ground.

During Crane sectioning a trunk down over the garage. Wrong move there means a new garage roof.

During Crew in the bucket trimming the tall arborvitae back off the patio.

During Bucket truck and chipper working between the houses to clear limbs off the power lines.

During Quick selfie while the crew worked behind me — wanted a record of who was on site that day.

During Marked up the section we needed gone before the crew climbed it. No surprises that way.

During Crane loading the big rounds straight onto the log trailer — way safer than dropping them whole.

During Trunks going out on the truck. Stump in the foreground was about three feet across.

During Felling on the road slope with the chipper staged below to take everything as it came down.

During Helper wrestling an oak round off the foundation — biggest log of the day.
