All in: new vinyl plank through the whole level, painted black steel beam left exposed, mini-splits in each zone, new sliders facing the lake, and a stacked laundry alcove tucked under the stairs. The wide doorway I cut early in the demo is what makes it feel like one big space instead of a chopped-up basement. Bedroom got mirrored bifolds to bounce the lake light around.
-
After Lakeside room finished. New sliders, stained trim, vinyl plank. The view does most of the work.
-
After Same room from the other angle — black-painted beam, mini-split, fresh rock. This is what I was after.
-
After Looking back through the new wide doorway. The connection between rooms was worth the framing work.
-
After Through the new opening into the second room. Mini-split's already cooling — both zones run independent.
-
After French doors and stained trim came out clean. Vinyl plank ran continuous through every room down here.
-
After Stacked washer-dryer alcove at the foot of the oak stairs. Stole that space from what used to be a closet.
-
After From the bottom of the stairs. Vinyl plank, painted walls, exposed treads. Reads like a real lower level now.
-
After Bedroom finished — mirrored bifolds, mini-split, laminate. Mirrors throw the lake light back into the room.
-
After Same bedroom empty before furniture went in. Wanted a clean shot of the floor before it got covered up.
-
Closet open to show the rod and shelf. Simple bifolds, but the mirrors make the room feel double the size.
