Three bathrooms got rebuilt — the original upstairs bath, a small main-floor powder room, and the basement bath under the stairs. Tore each one down to studs and slab, replaced supply and drain lines while the walls were open, ran new venting, and put in moisture-resistant drywall and cement board. Tile floors, subway-tile shower walls, new vanities, and chrome fixtures throughout. Pedestal sink and a blue chandelier in the powder room — small space, worth a moment.
-
Before Original upstairs bath before — subway tile surround, mosaic floor, and a radiator under the window.
-
During Powder room with vanity and toilet pulled. Capped the lines and prepped the floor for new tile.
-
During Old fiberglass surround coming out in pieces. Drywall behind it was soft from years of leaks.
-
During Pulling the old shower drain assembly out of the pan with a pry bar and rubber mallet.
-
During Bathroom down to studs with the plumbing stack and old subfloor exposed.
-
During Bath gutted to the studs. Copper supply lines still good — re-soldered the joints I cut.
-
During Slab bath stripped to capped supplies and drain. Easier to start fresh than patch around the old work.
-
During Studs, plumbing stack, and the old radiator left in place. Repainted the radiator before the new tile went down.
-
During Slab broken open to get at the drain. The original cast iron was cracked at the trap.
-
During New tub set, supply lines run, walls open for a final inspection look.
-
During Plumbing stack exposed through the framing — easier to tie in the new fixtures with a clear run.
-
During New shower valve and exhaust vent roughed in. Cement board and tile coming next.
-
During Purple drywall hung and the new shower pan dropped in with the drain set.
-
During Cement board around the tub and moisture-resistant drywall on the rest of the walls.
-
During Walk-in shower mid-tile with marble-look floor and white subway up the walls.
-
During Drywall up, plumbing stub set, underlayment down. Ready for the tile installer.
-
During Bathroom masked off with tape and plastic before I rolled the wall paint above the new tile.
-
During Same bath fully sheeted off so paint wouldn't land on the new fixtures.
-
After Walk-in shower done — white subway, dark grout, and chrome trim.
-
After Small bath done with marble-look floor, compact vanity, and a new low-flow toilet.
-
After Family bath finished — same floor tile, fresh paint, chevron curtain on the new tub.
-
After Powder room done with a pedestal sink and a blue chandelier as the moment.
-
After Other side of the powder room — built-in cubby shelves under the chandelier.
