The living room had a pressed-tin ceiling buried under decades of paint and a few water stains. Rather than cover it with drywall I cleaned it, repainted it white, and built a new electrical layout to suit it — flush-mount fixture in the center instead of recessed cans. Repointed the brick fireplace, hung a reclaimed wood mantel, and ran power up for the TV. Kept the arched openings to the dining room intact.
