The original system was undersized and failing. I worked with an engineer to design a new septic for a three-bedroom house — Hydro-Action treatment unit, distribution box, and seepage pits sized to the soil percs. Plans went through Sussex County and Sparta Township Board of Health for the alteration permit before any digging. This is the paperwork side of the project that nobody photographs but everybody needs.
-
Engineered septic plans rolled out for review. Three-bedroom design, sized for the lot and the soil we'd tested.
-
Site plan showing seepage pits, distribution box, and tank locations. Worked it out so the trucks could actually access them later.
-
Site plan with the Hydro-Action unit. Treatment system instead of straight to the field — the lake doesn't need any more nitrogen.
-
Cross section of the seepage pit with design data. This is the page the inspector wants to see.
-
Plans on the floor with the dog inspecting. He approves of all proposed changes.
-
Sparta Township Board of Health alteration permit issued. Now we can dig.
