The deck stairs and railings had gone gray and soft after years of neglect. I pulled the worst boards, sistered new pressure-treated stringers and posts where I had to, and replaced the railings. Once the framing was sound I prepped the whole surface and rolled on a brown stain. Tied it into the new split-rail fence so the whole back yard read as one project.

Before Prepped the deck and got the stain, roller, and brush staged before opening the can.

Before Stain ready to go. I like to set everything out first so I don't lose momentum.
-
During Dog supervising the new stair stringers and posts. Pressure-treated, full replacement.
-
During Split-rail fence going in across the back. Old deck still in foreground waiting for stain.
-
During Partial board replacement on the deck while the rails got their first coat.
